End of Day Considerations and Town Hall Meetings

October, Fri 10, 2014 - Sage International

Our reception/front desk staff does a tremendous amount of work at the end of the day.  While it is expected that the new and unusual will come at them from left and right during this time, there are a few guidelines we would like to enumerate to ease end of day confusion.

8th Grade & High School Parent/Student Communications

Unless it is an emergency, Ms. Lex is not able to leave her desk to deliver messages to your student.   If your end of day arrangements alter, please send an email prior to 3pm.  She will make her best effort to forward it on to the student’s current teacher.  However, if his/her last period is off campus (PE), there is not much that can be done.

Parkcenter End of Day

  • If you need to adjust how your child is getting home (shuttle bus, home/school bus, Esage), please send an email to Ms. Valerie or Ms. Lauryn prior to 3pm.
  • If you must pick up your 2nd – 5th grade student between 3:40 and 4pm, please email her/his classroom teacher prior to 3pm and ask to have her/him sent to the front desk at the appropriate time.
  • If you arrive early for the normally scheduled pickup, please wait outside of the building.
  • if you arrive early, please do not leave your car unattended in the pickup line (thank you!)
  • If you are picking up a 6th or 7th grader between 3:45 and 4:10, please be aware that it is a very busy all-hands-on-deck window for our staff.  We encourage you to discuss plans with your student(s) in the morning, so they know to come out of class at the appropriate time.

As with all things, we will continue to make tweaks as we observe and can improve the process.

As previously mentioned, the Board has formed a sub-committee composed of community-wide stakeholders seeking to clarify the issues that arose in regards to altering the end of day schedule.  As a part of the Committee’s fact-finding directive, they will be conducting two Town Hall Meetings in order to solicit feedback from Sage families.  These meetings will take place in the common room of the new Parkcenter building on the following dates:

  • October 14th @ 6:30pm
  • October 27th @ 6:30pm

Comments/suggestions from these evenings will be combined with additional input from the staff and administration.  The Committee will share its findings with the administration and the Board for their consideration at the November Board meeting.  If you are unable to attend but would like to provide input, please contact Stephanie Wicks-Pooser.
